Only Children Get Lonely
My daughter doesn’t like to mix up with other kids. In fact she is afraid of even younger kids. She has been a lonely child. No body to play with her except me or my mother, and no other children of her own age. There was a time when she would start wailing at the sight of any stranger. It was very embarrassing when people wanted to cuddle and she would scream and yell, tears trickling down her eyes.
My sister has two sons. She and her husband decided to have another child as they thought that only child in a family often turns into a little despot.They become selfish as all their wishes and wants are fulfilled by doting parents.
I am sure that I won’t let my daughter turn in to a tyrant, but I am not sure how can I help her out of her shyness.
I am a 32 year old Indian woman who spends most of the time in Europe. I thought that I liked to travel, but now I am not so sure. I have been to Switzerland, France, England, Scotland and Spain. I have a little daughter whom I dot on (all mothers do, nothing new). I fear that my overbearing attitude is turning her into a timid and fearful person. I am a recluse and don’t like to interact with people. Internet is my hiding place. I am most comfortable and at ease when I am writing in my blogs. One day I want to quit my job and turn to full time blogging (oh! The ultimate dream of all introverts).
